The music ministry is a strong expression which caracterizes the NCP's entire ministry in the inner-city of Los Angeles, Compton, and Inglewood. The NCP Gospel Choir purpose is to minister through various forms of gospel music. The Choir has been bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ through song to the New City Parish's communities and nation wide since its inception. Though this unique cultural ministry of gospel music is deeply rooted in the African American tradition, the choir includes a diverse group of believers from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The NCP Gospel Choir is open to all churches in the area, with no membership requirements or try-outs. This music ministry helps to support the church ministries in many religious, social, and educational events with its musical array and contributes to the stewardship effort of New City Parish. The New City Parish Gospel Choir has sung for churches of various denominations, ELCA synod assemblies, conventions, convalescent hospitals, banquets, special holiday services, city-wide prayer events and regional youth gatherings. The choir has sung indoors and outdoors; throughout California and out of sate. It has performed jointly with two internationally-known choirs and has been featured on public television. Audiences ranging from 50 to 4,000 persons have shared in the fine spirit generated by the members of this choir. Therefore the combination of this Gospel music and song with the Feet of Grace choreography, Mariachi and Latin music, and the the African Roots music bring a unique dimension to our form of worship and music ministry.
